OZ1200 (ISA formfactor)
The OZ1200 is a 2 channel, 12-bit position interpolator designed to accept conventional analog sine and cosine encoder inputs and interpolate a single encoder cycle into 4096 discrete steps, i.e. 12 bits. Thirty-six bits of integer position, or line count, is also provided. The OZ1200 can be expanded to a 4 channel 12-bit position interpolator with the addition of the 2 channel OZ1201 daughter board accessory. The OZ1200 is also available with a high speed interface option (OZ1200-02). This interface is designed to accept signals up to 1.5MHz for use with laser interferometers.
The OZ1200 interfaces directly to encoders with differential outputs. The encoder interface employs automatic gain correction and ratiometric signal conversion, and can therefore tolerate input signal amplitude variation with minimal reduction in performance. This is intended to compensate for normal signal amplitude variation over an encoder’s measurement range. Signal conditioning board (EA100 and EA200) are available to adapt encoders with different signal formats to the OZ1200.
Mechanically, the OZ1200 conforms to standard ½ size, ISA card dimensions. The board may be mounted in a standard ISA bus slot or as a standalone card in the user’s chassis. The ISA bus itself is not used for interface purposes, rather, a separate parallel bus is provided to interface directly with a Delta Tau, PMAC motion control card as a memory mapped peripheral.
